Clinico-pharmacological needs

Patient Orientation

Medicines are not simple items of commerce, they are an essential component of patient care and in the hospital sector they must be administered to the patient in a timely manner.

All participants in the supply chain have a responsibility to implement a rapid solution finding process in urgent cases with severe (?) health related implications.

Information and Effectiveness of substituting

Healthcare professionals must communicate medicines shortages openly and fairly with patients and family members and explain possible consequences due to medicines shortages. Patients should be given an oportunity to accept/deny offered alternative treatment. This should be noted in patient’s medical history.
